The delivery guy installed my tires.

Kinja'd!!!

But seriously, this is the most convenient service for tires around. Truck is fully loaded with tire machines to mount and balance everything. Awesome deal on the tires as well.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

All in price $368 for four Firestone Firehawk wide ovals installed in my office parking lot. If you’re in the Nashville area I would highly recommend checking this guy out!

what made you go with the Firehawks? I’ve been really working my PZeros... last time I was at the tire store they made a little comment, and all I could do was smirk ;)

Wow that’s a great idea for a mobile business! I’ll have to see if there’s one up here in the DC region.

What was the price premium for on-site installation? How much would you have saved by going to the shop instead?

I’m in northern VA, I’m pretty sure there is a service for this, and it uses a touchless machine too. Can’t remember the name but I saw it on a Porsche forum IIRC.

Or drifting events. Just show up with a boatload of shitty tires and sell them for maximum profit. Maybe even make it a subscription service since they go through so many.

Sweet, I work in Fairfax so I’ll have to look it up next time next tire change, which unfortunately should be coming up soon. $$$

I squeezed out just under 27k miles on the p zeros, about 9k more than what I read most people were getting out of them. Which is to say that they were totally toast. I was originally looking at off brand Rikens on tirerack. I’m in a spot in life where I’m not strapped for cash, but not able to drop bank on higher end tires. Not sure what you call that, middle management kind of stuff?
Anyway, I see this guy at Cars and Coffee regularly and decided to price check him. I expected him to be WAY over priced, but I like the idea of what he does. Turns out I was wrong and he had the Firehawks in stock. I just ran with it!
I know the brand, had them on a Mercury Cougar once way back when, and I liked the reviews. The wide ovals are a slightly tamer version, but I can’t complain that’s for sure! I was quite satisfied with the feel on the quick drive I took on lunch.

TL/DR: they were the best deal.

Upfront, this guy was about $7 more than the Riken Raptors from tire rack plus shipping and install.

tirerack installed: $370
bridgestone van installed: $377

For whatever reason it was cheaper once he got there so $2 less than going through tire rack and NONE of the headache of sitting at a shop for however long.

Here is a detailed breakdown of the original quote:

There was an alternative to this guy locally, however I see the bridgestone guy at Cars and Coffee and his website feels a lot less sketch than the other guy. Highly recommend it!

Yeah I’m in fairfax/centreville. If you ever need a good shop, there’s a few solid ones in chantilly that do great work.

That’s awesome, I can’t believe it’s not nationally franchised.

Are you getting an alignment as well?

Kinja'd!!! TheRealBicycleBuck > TysMagic

Kinja'd!!!0

Huh. Different tires, but I assume they are comparable.

Is the mobile installer associated with a local shop? Do you get free rotation and flat repairs? If so, do they come do it or do you have to go to their shop?

Maybe he does already. He could take the old tires he took off someone’s car (plus the $8 recycling fee), then sell them at drift events

Kinja'd!!! TysMagic > TheRealBicycleBuck

The wide oval is slightly tamer, but I don’t do anything on a track or solo anymore so not a necessity.

He is affiliated with the firestone shop near my house based on the receipt as well as with Bridgestone directly as they’re headquartered in Nashville. “Road protection” is wrapped in to the price, but rotations I’m unsure on. I don’t normally go to Firestone for service so it wasn’t a factor for me.

Incredibly easy! Would highly recommend it.

Car drives straight and doesn’t feel out of alignment. Realistically the Abarth is only capable of having a front end alignment done anyway so we shall see if it needs it.

Free rotations at any firestone location
He doesn’t do mobile flat repair, however same idea any firestone location honors the road protection.

That’s such a good idea. They should post up at autocrosses and track days too. If they can compete with tire-rack (or partner with them) in terms of price, they’d do very well at events like that! They just need a road force balancer and then they’d be set.
